Preparing to Celebrate 50 Years of Quality

Koontz Team hits 50th Anniversary on March 1, 2023

Dale Koontz Builder (DKB) of Quincy, IL is celebrating 50 years in business on Wednesday, March 1.  The custom home building and remodeling company was founded by Dale and Donna Koontz in 1973.

Over the last 50 years DKB has been responsible for a number of subdivisions and developments in Quincy, including Cambridge Estates, Tuscany Fields and Wildhorse for single family homes, and Gardendale and Knollwood condominiums.  DKB has also completed the 3^rd phase of the Trinity Lakes subdivision and an expansion of the Drakewood subdivision. 

In addition to many single-family homes and condominiums, Dale and Donna Koontz have shaped Quincy’s residential landscape through the construction of hundreds of rental homes.  Complexes that have been built and managed by the Koontz family include Hickory Pointe, Forestdale and Northfield.  DKB has built dozens of rental homes for other developers as well.

Dale Koontz originally worked for a local builder before opening his own business.  He summarized the keys to his success in building by saying that he wanted people to know he would be “easy to get along with, fair in our pricing and we will strive to do the very best possible job we can do.”  DKB continues to operate with the core values of Integrity, Professionalism and Craftsmanship and is widely viewed as a leader in homebuilding, remodeling and rental housing in the Quincy area.

Today DKB is owned by Dale and Donna’s sons Tim (President) and Scott (Secretary/Treasurer).  Scott’s son Matthew (Vice President) also owns an interest in the business, and is poised to lead the company as the 3^rd generation of family ownership.

“We are grateful to all of the people in the area who have trusted us to build and remodel their homes over the last 50 years,” said Scott Koontz, “and we are particularly thankful to the men and women who have contributed their talents to the planning and execution of the hundreds of projects we have had the privilege to build.”

Dale Koontz was inducted into the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame in 2021.  Dale passed away August 6, 2019.
