Questions
Building a new home is an exciting project! Don't feel overwhelmed because we'll be with you every step of the way, making the process as comfortable, hassle-free and fun as possible! Below are some of the most common questions we've heard from our customers. You likely have more, so please ask!
Do you have land to build on?
Dale Koontz Builder has an inventory of lots to choose from in the Quincy area. We currently have lots in Cambridge (1 block north of 36 th and Harrison ), and our newest, Tuscany Fields. Please click here for more information on our Lots for Sale.
What if I already have a lot?
We will build on your land or on a lot in another developer's subdivision. Dale Koontz Builder will build in about a 25 mile radius of Quincy.
Do I need my own plan?
Dale Koontz Builder is a custom home builder. We do not have a selection of stock plans from which to choose. The customer has the option of purchasing a home plan from a plan book, working with an architect on a truly one-of-a-kind home, or a combination of the two. We can assist in modifying stock plans and with basement layouts.
What's a house cost these days?
A custom home will be more on a cost per square foot comparison than most spec homes on the market today. Most custom homes will be in the $140-$160/sq. ft. range, and some highly detailed homes even higher. The space finished in the basement will range from $30-$45/ sq. ft.
How long does it take to build a custom home?
Most custom homes will take from 6 to 12 months, depending on the size of the home, and the season in which the home is constructed. A typical 2500 sq. ft. home can be finished in approximately six months.
Can I view your work in progress or your finished work?
We are always willing to take you on to the jobsite and show you our work in progress. We typically have homes in all phases of construction, from only framing to almost complete.
Who are the subcontractors on my home and how are the material suppliers chosen?
Dale Koontz Builder has a group of subcontractors that we have partnered with for most projects. We are, however, flexible to work with subs that are requested by the homeowner. Regarding materials, we have a list of approved suppliers that homeowners can choose from that we feel offer the best combination of price, quality and service.
How do I get started with Dale Koontz Builder?
The process normally starts with a face-to-face meeting with Tim Koontz, the President of Dale Koontz Builder. He will review the location of the building site and the implications and opportunities that each unique site affords; he will review your plans, pictures, sketches or whatever materials you have to start the building process; also, he will discuss the approximate costs of building a home and how the process works.
